Exceptional growth
Founded in 1955 as a modern city, Ashdod has experienced one of the fastest rates of population growth in Israel. Starting with just 22 families, the city has grown to over 225,000 residents, with an annual growth rate peaking at 9,000 new inhabitants per year.
Within barely a decade, Ashdod became Israel's fifth-largest municipality. The city is divided into 17 residential neighborhoods according to its master development plan, covering 60,000 dunams (60 km²), which extends to 74,000 dunams when natural parks are included.
A strategic crossroads
Ashdod enjoys an ideal location on a major transport corridor, just 35 km from Tel Aviv and 70 km from both Jerusalem and Beer Sheva. Its seaport is the second busiest in Israel after Haifa, serving as a hub for domestic and international trade.
The mild climate and advantageous geographical position contribute to the city's appeal. Approximately 38% of residents are recent immigrants, arriving mainly in the 1990s from Eastern Europe, Ethiopia, France, Latin America, and elsewhere.
Real estate in Ashdod
Ashdod is one of the most attractive cities for real estate investment in Israel. Prices are significantly more affordable than in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem, while still offering a high quality of life with direct access to the sea.
The francophone community is particularly well established in Ashdod, which makes settling in much easier for newcomers from France. The most sought-after neighborhoods are those close to the seafront and the new developments in the southern part of the city.
Numerous new construction projects are meeting the growing demand, with modern residences offering quality amenities at competitive prices.
